Letter to Congress from State Legislators and Local Elected Officials

Congress Should Extend Unemployment Benefits!

Dear National Labor Caucus Member,

Federal extended unemployment insurance programs will expire on December 31st unless Congress takes action now.  These programs are a critical lifeline for workers who have been laid off and despite their best efforts, unable to find a job in an economy where there are more than 4 unemployed workers for every available job.  The programs also play an essential role in sustaining local communities and our nation’s economy.   Congress will be voting soon on this issue - please click here to sign onto a letter to Congress from state legislators and local elected officials to urge them to extend these critical benefits!

Thank you!

Naomi Walker, AFL-CIO Deputy Director of Government Affairs

Christine Silvia-DeGennaro, AFL-CIO State Legislative Issues Coordinator
